ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

 

We’re looking for a Site General Manager who will manage all Operations functions (directly and indirectly) for our Ross-on Wye site. This includes Safety, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Engineering and all Capex projects.

 

With a headcount of c.50 Employees, the Ross site manufactures a range of products for our Out of Home sector, including brands such as Vimto, Irn Bru and Coca Cola. 

 

Reporting to the Group Supply Chain and Sustainability Director, this role provides leadership for the site and supports development of a modern manufacturing environment with a focus on a collaborative, inclusive style. You will have full budget management for the site with a drive towards instilling a continuous improvement approach to activities to drive efficiencies, improve cost management and bring an improvement focus to the sites results and standards.

ROLE SCOPE:

  • Responsibility for developing and executing the site strategy and for building an engaging site culture that is aligned to the broader Nichols culture.
  • Responsibility for all site operations to include Technical, Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, and all Capex projects.
  • Accountability for ensuring the site meets the business needs in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Morale (SQCDM) ensuring that operational targets and standards are achieved.
  • Responsibility for all resource planning to ensure that the needs of the customers (both internal and external) are met.
  • Responsibility for communicating effectively with all key customers (Internal and External) and demonstrate a flexible approach to meeting business requirements.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Vision and Strategy – to develop and execute a vision, strategy and rolling 3-year operating plan for the Ross on Wye site.
  • HSE - responsible for the safety of all employees operating within the Ross site and implementing safety programs to improve safety performance. Assess and manage all foreseeable risks that are related to the business assets.
  • Operating standards - to establish clear operating standards and systems for all aspects of the operations with respect to maintaining and improving safety, quality, cost, delivery, and morale.
  • Operational performance - to lead the business area teams to achieve or exceed agreed outputs, efficiency, costs, waste, productivity, safety, quality, morale and customer service
  • CI - to lead the development of a demonstrable continuous improvement culture.
  • Capex - Deliver all new Capex projects and development activities required to meet the ongoing needs of the business by ensuring the correct cost and resource plans are agreed and in place.
  • Team Leadership – provide outstanding leadership for direct reports and the site team in general, developing an inclusive and collaborative approach to team working and ensure adherence to performance management standards. (Responsible for an organisation of around 50 permanent staff through a team of Direct and Indirect reports operating on a shift basis).
  • Peer Group – collaborate closely with the rest of Nichols Leadership Group to support the ongoing development of the OOH route to market and overall Nichols business.

YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Experience in a similar role within an FMCG type environment
  • Significant operations management experience
  • Proven leadership of people and development of high-performance cultures
  • Experience of effective cultural and organisational change implementation
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working in a matrix environment with strong stakeholder management skills
