ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

 

Reporting into the People Director this role will develop and deliver a clear communications strategy, including a clear framework and scope for external and internal communications

 

The role will lead the creation of the communications plan and will develop and implement internal and external communication strategies for the organisation to ensure that unified, consistent, and positive messages define and promote the corporate brand and purpose.

 

Acting as the corporate spokesperson and responding to members of the media in a timely manner; composing and distributing press releases and media statements as needed.

 

Providing consistent and timely internal communications, including business communications and engaging employees through various communications programs. Acting as the lead on our Annual Report, Happier Future, Employer Brand and Employee Value Proposition communications in addition to incident management communications as required.

 

YOUR ROLE WILL INCLUDE:

 

Corporate Comms:

  • Develop the Nichols PLC corporate brand identity, communications strategy and plan – external and internal and developing and delivering all associated communications.
  • Brand guardian in all external communications including Nichols PLC website and LinkedIn.
  • Custodian for internal written business communications, ensuring an aligned and consistent approach.
  • Develop communications plans and campaigns linked to key strategic business priorities.
  • Partner with our external Corporate Communications agency and internal leadership team to prepare our annual report and Happier Future reports.
  • Lead on external and internal Happier Future communications.
  • Lead on BSDA (British Soft Drinks Association) communication.
  • Lead on incident management communications.
  • Develop internal and external business communications protocols and processes.
  • Lead point of contact for all communications related to our external charity partners.
  • Monitor the success of campaigns and preparing detailed evaluation reports.
  • Manage and control the communications budget.
  • Establish and maintain effective and collaborative cross functional working relationships to ensure the timely and effective delivery of all communication strategies.
  • Responsible for the formal half yearly review of our corporate communications agency.

Employer Brand and Employee Value Proposition Comms:

  • Develop a strategic and consistent approach to engagement and communication of our people.
  • Communications lead on external Employer Brand and internal Employee Value Proposition, ensuring alignment to our overall purpose, culture and values, working in partnership with the People Team.
  • Lead on all internal comms including the management of our business wide quarterly Team Brief and annual events.

Trade Media:

  • Oversee our UKP trade comms strategy and plan with the support of the brand team.

 

YOU WILL:

  • Have proven ability to create and lead a corporate communications strategy and plan in a PLC business
  • Have high level understanding of UK national media, key industry stakeholders and trade media
  • Hold superb verbal and written communication skills specifically copy writing.  As well as having proven ability to land communications well with multiple stakeholders with different communication needs and requirements
  • Be media trained and an excellent public speaker
  • Have excellent stakeholder management skills – internal and external
  • Be proficiency in MS Office
  • Have excellent presentation skills
  • Be able to showcase strong organisational skills
  • Have high developed attention to detail
  • Be comfortable working under pressure across a broad range of tasks
  • Have strong analytical skills – problem solving
  • Have proven ability to adapt communications to the culture of the organisation

WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • University Degree (or equivalent experience in role) ideally in Journalism, Media, PR or Communications
  • Chartered Institute of Public Relations (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 years senior experience as a Communications Manager in a fast moving PLC business.
  • Proven experience of Stakeholder management – internal and external. Experience of working closely with senior leadership teams is essential.
  • Proven experience of developing a successful business communications strategy through to implementation.
  • Proven experience of incident management communications essential.
