THIS OPPORTUNITY:

 

We're looking for a Site HSSE Manager to join us at our Ross on Wye site.

This role is responsible for the Health, Safety, Security and Environmental performance of the production facility through proactive management.

The successful candidate will lead and develop a strong safety culture, one that delivers a safe and reliable operational environment.

 

DAY TO DAY:

  • Review, manage and maintain the site Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Management System
  • Lead the forward planning activities for the site and wider business risk management
  • Liaise with external interested parties including (but not exclusive to) Auditors, EHS representatives, local or national authorities, EHS activity suppliers
  • Ensure full compliance for statutory for site wide activities
  • Carbon reduction commitment and management
  • Promote hazard identification via a near miss process. Record and investigate all accidents and report on HSE website when applicable. Seeking target of zero accidents (aligned to KPI reporting)
  • Work with the other departments to ensure adherence to requirements and auditable processes are in place. Support development of risk assessment and SOP’s
  • Initiate and support engineering cost reductions through the management of effective spend
  • Support and advise the manufacturing teams with technical advice supported with factual data
  • Manage Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for issues around incidents, driving improvements through CAPA process
  • Lead and develop the site’s sustainability strategy and delivery of it, to meet Nichols PLC targets and objectives
  • To represent the Ross-on-Wye site at group level in respect of the carbon reduction roadmap and associated activities
  • Carry out reasonable tasks as requested by the General Manager in line with department or company objectives

YOU WILL PROVIDE: 

  • Effective leadership and communication skills, encouraging good communication and working relationships across the business
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and developments
  • Competency training i.e. toolbox talks and awareness briefings
  • Being a role model for a culture of continuous improvement, seeking opportunities with a cross functional team approach wherever possible
  • Being an action driven leader, proactive and forward thinking with high influencing skills
  • Role modelling the values and supporting business activities for inclusivity and culture.

YOU WILL NEED:

  • IOSH Managing Safely and NEBOSH certificated with proven experience within an FMCG business
  • Auditor Trained i.e. ISO9001, 22000 or 44001
  • Excellent IT skills
